Spotlight on EMIM FSI

Recently, the CBILS®-process for EMIM FSI has been developed and optimized in the kg-scale. The advantages of EMIM FSI compared to other ionic liquid electrolytes are
  •  high electric conductivity (17.5 mS/cm)
  •  low freezing point (-48 °C)
  •  low viscosity (21 mPas @ 20 °C).

The obtained quality of EMIM FSI in lab-scale was remarkable (15 ppm water and a halide content below 5 ppm); the process is ready for scale-up to the ton-scale.

 

REACH registration

An increasing demand for high-purity ionic liquids especially in the electronic and automotive industry induced the upscaling and REACH registration of EMIM-TFSI (REACH registration number: 01-2120825886-41-0000 as well as EMIM-BF4 (REACH registration number: 01-2120086816-43-0000) which enables proionic to produce up to up to 10 t/a. Both substances are available on a ton-scale basis in unique quality.
